A mildly pervy and awfully self-pitying bildungsroman, Derek Ahonen's play, produced by the Amoralists, follows a writer from a fraught childhood to his literary success and alcoholic collapse. The director James Kautz works in the troupe's heightened style, which often confuses shouting with acting. Mr. Kautz also includes several moments of interpretive dance - rarely a good idea (2:25).
