After a hilarious pre-show announcement which tells the audience to prepare themselves for an “extravaganza”, Dan Nightingale has set the bar for himself considerably high. Fortunately, he does deliver and what unfolds is an excellent repertoire of laughs aplenty material.

Dan Nightingale is Trying His Best Not to Be a Dick is essentially just as the title says. The show is made up of comical scenarios which Nightingale finds himself in and focuses predominantly on how he reacts in these situations. Despite his best efforts, sometimes his actions depict him as a dick but the comedic value he brings to the situation balances this out.
Part of Nightingale’s charm and what makes him so engaging is his jovial disposition and slightly cheeky nature. He is also an enthusiastic and animated storyteller; when he is relating an anecdote, you immediately get sucked into the story and follow him all the way, eagerly awaiting that punchline which is undoubtedly coming.
One highlight of the show was when he regaled the time he got thrown out of a McDonald’s which had the audience in hysterics. It was the exemplar funny story, executed impeccably with precise comedic timing proving that he can definitely stand on his own two feet.
