Star Ratings
Broadway Baby uses a simple system of stars to indicate what we thought of the show. Below is a guide to how we rate and review productions. If you want to see shows that we've reviewed in that star rating, just click on the title or star icon.
Zero Stars
We've never seen a show that bad that it deserved a zero-star review, but needless to say it has to really stink to be this bad. Avoid at all costs.
One Star
Chances are, that if it only gets one star, it generally means the show was weak in all areas including acting, directing and production. Don't expect to come away entertained.
Two Stars
If a show is considered Two Star, it's likely that something is letting it down. It could be a great script, poorly delivered; or strong performances of weak material.
Three Stars
Three Stars sits in the middle of our reviewing spectrum. The show was "OK"; expect the production to be satisfying without blowing your socks off.
Four Stars
A Four Star review is certainly nothing to be ashamed of. Four Stars means this production excels in at least one or more main aspect. Expect to see a great show.
Five Stars
Any show that gets Five Stars has got it all. This rating means everything about the production was excellent. A Five Star show is the sort of show that will be selling out, if it isn't already, so get a ticket early.
Five Star Plus
Occasionally, and that's very occasionally, we'll come across a show that is just better than Five Stars. That's why we've have the Five Star Plus category for the absolutely stand-out productions that define new standards. If you spot a Five Star Plus review on Broadway Baby, it means you absolutely must see this production.
