How do you solve a problem like Maria? Well take all the glitter and Lamee in the world and you’ve got a start. Then throw in six drag queens, mixed with a pinch of Pricilla and take it to the Edinburgh fringe.

You all know the story. Girl leaves convent to be governess for four children (seven wouldn’t fit on stage) with an overbearing father, a love rival Baroness and some pesky Nazis to overcome before they can all live happily ever after. Oh and don’t forget that they still have to sing in Eurovision too. Poor Maria! No wonder she’s tired. This drag production has a slightly different interpretation to the original musical due to time constraints, and, well, just for the hell of it. Its cheeky and irreverent homage will have you singing and dancing along.

A great night seems almost guaranteed. If you feel like it, go in costume. [Terry Gilliland]
