I had heard little about Brendan Burns until I reluctantly went on Saturday to see his show. He is a feisty, highly intelligent Australian comic notorious for being brash, unsubtle and speaking exactly as he finds.

I walked into an already packed auditorium to find the only available seats were very near the front - a clear indicator of what was to come my way. Sure enough, Mr Burns bursts on stage and directs his rants towards us personally. One poor woman bravely took the blame for Russell Brand being labelled a sex god. He doesn't stop there as there as he launches into subjects ranging from suicide bombers to Hitler and Jeff Brazier. His passion bursts its way through every vessel with immense enthusiasm and the intensity of an orgasm. I'm surprised his vocal chords can manage to produce any sound whatsoever after the strain they're put through.

This is one of the best comedy shows I have ever seen. It is carefully constructed and goes beyond dangerous. In parts he had my heart beating so fast I was wishing I had not disposed of the beta-blockers I was given for my A-levels years ago. He made us all cringe. He made us all think. Most importantly, he made us all laugh - very hard! If you can get a ticket then don't miss it. [Kevin Stevens]
