Become A Broadway Baby

We are now recruiting reviews and section editors to Edinburgh 2012 - see below for details.

Broadway Baby is one of the largest independent review media who cover the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. As well as publication on this website and in our own print edition, Broadway Baby reviews are syndicated on iFringe, edfringe.com and by the FMN links exchange, and we accredit all our reviewers with the festival press offices.

We are a founder member of the Festival Media Network, which promotes high standards in the media coverage of festivals.

Broadway Baby reviewers have gone on to successful careers in show business as well as journalism. We have alumni at the BBC, the New York Times, The Scotsman, WhatsOnStage, BroadwayWorld and Impressive PR. Current writers include active theatre designers, directors and producers as well as an abundance of actors and scriptwriters.

We're always looking for volunteer reviewers with:

  • practical experience of fringe performance.
  • experience in arts journalism.

Successful applicants will have:

  • an excellent writing style.
  • high levels of personal responsibility.
  • critical acumen.

How to Apply

Edinburgh 2012 Team

COMMERCIAL MANAGER
We are looking for a Commercial Manager, someone who'll be able to handle advertising enquiries and manage our strategic partnerships with venues and promoters. This will be a great opportunity for someone who wants to be fully involved with the festival without the need to review shows. This position does come, however, with the full senior editorial privileges that give free access to shows at selected venues.

To apply, please email applications@broadwaybaby.com

Deadline: May 25th 2012, 11pm

REVIEWERS
This year we are looking for our biggest team of writers yet. The Fringe is an intense time, and as such we will only consider applicants who can commit to 25 reviews. We're looking for motivated, capable writers who work well under pressure. In return for your time and dedication, you get a press pass, discounts and benefits. In fact, we have some seriously good privileges exclusively for our reviewers, including standby access at selected venues and VIP passes for some of the festivals nicest members-only bars. Seeing and hearing yourself quoted around the city is nice too!

To apply, please email applications@broadwaybaby.com with:

  • A 200-word covering letter detailing relevant experience.
  • Two sample reviews (these need not have been published).

Dealine: June 8th 2012, 11pm

nb) All editorial applicants will be considered for reviewing positions too, so no need to apply twice!

Brighton 2012 Reviewers

Broadway Baby covers the Brighton Fringe each year. The deadline for applications in 2012 has now passed.

Applications for next year's Fringe will be invited in January 2013.

London Reviewers

We're accepting reviewers on a rolling basis. Unlike the madness associated with festivals, London reviewing is a much calmer business. Your commitment need only be as little as one show a month, or one a week if you want to see more. You choose the types of show you want to see, and we'll arrange your tickets to the press night.

Please email your CV and at least two review samples to editor@broadwaybaby.com.

Your review samples don't have to have been published, but if your samples are hosted online, please send a link. Ideally, you will submit at least one positive and one negative review and the reviews will have star ratings.

In your covering email, please list the genres you want to write about, and detail the experience that qualifies you to do so.
