PRESS RELEASE

BROADWAY BABY APPOINTS NEW EDITOR
James Harding named as Editor of growing fringe theatre publication

8th September 2010 – Broadway Baby, the second largest reviewing publication at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, today announced the appointment of James Harding as its new Editor.

Harding takes over from founder Pete Shaw, who will concentrate on his role as Publisher of Broadway Baby during the planned expansion of the site over the next 12 months.

“The strength of Broadway Baby lies in its reviewers, who are all heavily involved in the performing arts and bring the benefit of that experience to our readers,” said Harding. “I plan to increase the number of reviewers with a particular emphasis on expanding the music and comedy sections. Additional technical developments on the site and a wider coverage will make Broadway Baby the indispensable guide to the Fringe.”

Broadway Baby was created in 1996 as a free resource website for theatre professionals. It has grown exponentially since its debut as a reviewer at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2004 and now receives over 70,000 unique visitors during the Festival alone. Broadway Baby published over 700 reviews on BroadwayBaby.com this August, as well as a regular printed review sheet which was distributed to all major venues throughout the month.

Broadway Baby is a founding member of the Festival Media Network, an organisation of independent media who aim to bring a code of best practice to reviewing publications at Festivals such as the Edinburgh Fringe.

What is Broadway Baby?

We are a site dedicated to live performance, and the people who watch live performance. We invite you to join our community - it's free.

We have a team of reviewers who have a background in theatre - so they talk from experience. But don't just take our word for it, we also encourage you to write your own reviews. And while you're here, you'll find a full set of social networking features so you can hook up with friends, create your own groups, send messages, and even publish your Twitter™ feed right in your own Broadway Baby profile.

Basically, we want you to get the most out of the fringe, so we want you to find the best shows, and maybe even some new friends to see them with. And membership of Broadway Baby will always be free. Gratis. Zilch. Spend the money taking a risk on a fringe show. That's where the fun is.
